Japan’s Golden Week will not bypass Cairns in 2009 with news today that Queensland air charter business, SkyAirWorld, supported by marketing funding from the Australian Federal Government, will operate three charters from Nagoya to Cairns using its 94 seat, executive jets. According to SkyAirWorld’s tourism marketing partner, Todd Parker of Parker Travel Collection and Air Australia, “These flights will operate from 28 April to 7 May representing a new era in aviation from Western Japan.”
SkyAirWorld will treat Japan’s Golden Week visitors to the ultimate experience in premium air travel by operating its new Embraer E-190 aircraft for its Golden Week charter.
While these aircraft comprise 10 Business and 84 Economy class seats, all passengers will be treated to business class meal service with complimentary beer and wine. The flights will operate from 28 April to 7 May in a new era in aviation from Western Japan.
Mr Parker added that the Federal Government’s marketing funding assistance was a critical element in being able to offer these new services to the Japanese market and would be used to drive sales and provide confidence to the travel agents.
The CEO of SkyAirWorld, David Charlton said he is very excited to deliver good news. “With seats on sale from 30 November, we are confident this is just the start of things to come with Golden Week being the inaugural charter from which we can continue to develop a regular charter service from Western Japan to Cairns. We also understand the importance of promoting the overall concept of charter and believe the Japanese market will enjoy the comfort of travel in our new jets.
SkyAirWorld is supported by a number of Cairns based companies that form the “AUSTRALIAN GLOBAL AIRCRAFT CHARTER GROUP”, which is a partnership of independent companies providing aviation solutions to the tourism industry.

“The sales and marketing of these flights will be key to the charter’s success and we will be announcing the appointment of a Japanese Charter Sales Manager for the duration of the campaign. SkyAirWorld utilises Embraer's family of E-Jets, a new concept in commercial air transport that blurs the line between regional jets and mainline aircraft. The SkyAirWorld E190 features a new cabin concept. A double-bubble fuselage design means passengers enjoy an extraordinary amount of personal space. The widest seat and the widest aisle in the category add to passenger comfort. Four-abreast seating eliminates the undesirable middle seat, easing access and making boarding and deplaning smoother and faster.
